Michigan, USA: Implementing Clean Energy School Bus Program

On October 13, 2025, Michigan announced a new round of investment, aiming to replace traditional diesel school buses with clean energy ones.

Core content: The total amount of this round of funding is 35.9 million US dollars. It will assist 23 schools and educational institutions in purchasing 87 electric school buses and 10 propane school buses.

Project Objective: This investment is part of the state's Clean School Bus Energy Assistance Program, aiming to improve air quality, safeguard student health, and alleviate the budget pressures on schools. So far, various forms of funding have helped the state deploy nearly 900 clean energy school buses.

Potential opportunity: This plan continuously drives the energy transformation of the school bus fleet. For enterprises engaged in clean transportation, vehicle manufacturing, and charging infrastructure, this represents a market entry point worthy of attention.

New York State, USA: Energy-saving and Carbon Reduction Investments in Colleges and Secondary Schools

Over the past week, New York State has made significant announcements regarding major investments for energy conservation and carbon reduction in both colleges and primary and secondary schools.

Upgrading of large-scale thermal energy systems in universities: On October 13, 2025, Stony Brook University in New York State received a $22 million grant to design and construct two geothermal energy network projects.

(1)The project involves expanding the existing system at the Southampton campus and building a new network to connect the old and new engineering buildings at the main campus.

(2)This funding comes from the New York State's $1 billion "Sustainable Future Program", which has allocated $200 million specifically for expanding the thermal energy network in municipal and state-owned buildings (including several universities), aiming to reduce carbon emissions, improve energy efficiency and create jobs.

Deep energy-saving renovations in primary and secondary schools: Although the total $23 million "Clean Green School" funding was announced on August 13, 2025, the list of the second-round winning bidders has been updated within the past week, revealing the specific flow of funds. This is of reference value for understanding the implementation of the policy.

Four resource-poor school districts received a total of 23 million US dollars in funding for implementing deep energy-saving renovations. These projects are highly representative, for example:

(1)The Gubalashford Central School District and the North Rockland Central School District each received approximately $10.1 million to install ground-source/air-source heat pump systems, upgrade building automation systems, and install high-performance windows. It is expected that these measures will reduce building energy consumption by 45% and 50% respectively.

(2)The Bradford and Canajoharie Central School Districts respectively received approximately $1.4 million to completely replace their traditional HVAC systems with efficient VRF heat pumps or ground source heat pumps.

Massachusetts, USA: Modernization Plan for Learning Spaces

Massachusetts announced the "Modernization Plan for Learning Spaces" on September 15, 2025.

(1)Core content: This plan will allocate $500,000 to each higher education institution within the state, for the purpose of upgrading teaching laboratories, workshops, and other applied learning facilities, in order to integrate industry-standard technologies and create a learning environment that better meets the demands of modern teaching.

(2)Relevance to your business: Although this plan mainly focuses on modernizing the teaching spaces, it provides opportunities for integrating energy-saving building materials, intelligent lighting, and efficient HVAC systems with teaching equipment. Please pay attention to the specific bidding requirements in the future.
