1.The Pacific island countries have launched an energy efficiency project, emphasizing the intelligentization of building data.
The "Pacific Region Promoting Energy Efficiency Project (PEEP2)" funded by the Asian Development Bank has recently launched a new website, aiming to provide energy efficiency solutions for five Pacific developing countries including Papua New Guinea, Samoa, and Tonga. One of the core highlights of this project is the establishment of a building energy consumption index database and an interactive graphical tool. This enables building and energy managers to easily compare the energy consumption levels of different buildings without being limited by the size of the buildings, and to monitor the effectiveness of energy-saving measures over the long term. This provides a crucial data infrastructure for the intelligent energy management of public buildings.
2. Hanoi, Vietnam releases 2026 energy conservation plan, with public buildings taking the lead
The People's Committee of Hanoi City recently released the 2026 energy conservation plan, which sets clear and quantified targets for public buildings:
(1)Comprehensive green office model: The plan emphasizes that 100% of administrative offices have adopted the "green office - energy-saving mode", which provides a mandatory scenario for the energy-saving renovation of public buildings.
(2)Compulsory energy-saving targets: For key energy-consuming units, including public buildings, with annual electricity consumption of over 1 million kWh, it is required that they save at least 3% of their electricity usage each year.
(3)Intelligent upgrade of the lighting system: The plan sets a goal of saving at least 30% of electricity for public lighting and decorative lighting, and 10% for traffic lighting. It is worth noting that Hanoi has already implemented large-scale replacement of LED lights and integrated with automated control systems in actual operations, which directly reflects the trend of intelligentization of public building facilities.
